Product Overview

The Fisher 582i is an electro-pneumatic I/P converter module that converts a standard 3582 pneumatic positioner into a Type 3582i, so a globe valve with a single-acting diaphragm actuator can be driven directly by a 4-20 mA DC control signal.

The converter is mounted on the positioner case and uses the proven nozzle-flapper pneumatic relay of the 3582, so response stays fast and steady air consumption stays low. Output pressure is 3-15 psi or 6-30 psi depending on the actuator spring range, supply pressure may go to 3.4 bar (50 psi), the air connection is 1/4 NPT and the electrical entry is 1/2-14 NPT. Zero and span are adjusted independently, which allows split ranging, and the action can be reversed in the field.

Typical Applications

Fisher 3582i positioners are widely used on straight-through globe valves in natural gas regulating and metering stations, boiler feedwater and steam loops, and general process control where a 4-20 mA signal from a DCS or PLC has to be converted into accurate stem position. The mechanical feedback and rugged case tolerate the vibration found on compressor bypass and pressure reducing valves.

Selection Guide

Order by actuator size, stroke and supply pressure. Existing 3582 pneumatic positioners can be upgraded in the field by fitting the 582i converter module; check that the actuator spring range matches the required 3-15 psi or 6-30 psi output before installation.
